The life of Lyra Frett was many things. She was a God-fearing woman. She gave of herself and her talents to others. She was kind and helped anyone who needed a hand that crossed her path. And although she didn’t have more than an elementary school education herself, she strongly believed in education, not just higher education but anything honest that you could do to provide for your family was great as well. If you showed aptitude, then she pushed you to accomplish whatever you could. The annual Gala is the event the organization uses to commemorate her legacy and raise funding for the foundation to continue Lyra’s legacy by providing scholarships to deserving minority students, providing mentorship programs, and providing workforce development training programs.
